Cody Williams
Hello Everybody, Does anyone know if or can explain to me how to tell FusionPro Desktop to use xml data for input. I have a customer who gave me a XML file from Oracle and I need to tell FP Desktop how to use it for data input. I can't find it in the manuals and the product literature says FP can use XML data. Dan Korn
Yes, FusionPro can accept XML (or XML-like) input, but only in a very specific format, with <record> and <story> tags. This is called "tagged markup input" and is documented in the User Guide and the Tags Reference Guide. However, FusionPro doesn't know how to take any old XML file with arbitrary tags and figure out how to pull records of data from it. (How would it know which tags correspond to field names and values and record delineations?) If you have an arbitrary XML file, you'll have to do some kind of conversion on it to get it into either FusionPro's tagged markup input format, or into a flat file (delimited text) format.
