  1. Is this option only for use with Version 8? If not, is this an OnNewOutputFile rule?
  2. Just trying to help you out, you admittedly said you were a novice with FP.
  3. Maybe you didn't read my post, forget assigning the sequential number in InDesign. Do that part in acrobat one time.
  4. I guess what we (or me I guess) are trying to figure out is why can't you create the 456 unique tickets with all graphics and text (Dates and Times) out of InDesign and not assign the text box in InDesign. With the full 456 unique fronts as single PDF's. Then in Fusion Pro put the fronts together with the appropriate back and the corresponding ticket range. So you would have a two blank page Fusion Pro template. Use the createResource rule to a graphic box for the front and another for the back and then a text box with the ticket number. Again this is driven by a csv file, the only text coming from the csv would be the ticket number. I will excuse myself from the conversation now if I still don't get it, but maybe you should try Customer Support directly, they are very helpful as is this forum.
  5. Sorry, I must be missing something. Are you typesetting the dates and times or are those already in the InDesign file? How many pages is the InDesign file and are the different dates and times on seperate layers?
  6. Wow, thanks for that question and response, I will use that alot. I used to just create two resources one with die and one without and then two respective rules and switch the rules of the graphic box when running the proof with dieline. This will save a little time for most jobs, but could be a big time saver for others. Thank you.
  7. I have attached a sample of how I would go about it. I think I have you understood. Creating the csv file will be the most work. I assume you know how many of each art is needed for example Front1 and Back1 you need 65. So I would create a csv with three columns. Column 1 is Front, Column 2 is Back, and Column 3 is Seq #. The first 65 records would be for that combination of art and for Seq # 00001 through 00065. Then I would just create the whole file in this manner and use rules to switch out the fronts and backs. So I have my PDF's named exactly how they are named in the csv file and FP will pull them in on the fly. Look at the rules and then in the advanced tab of the composition, you need to tell it where your PDF's are.Test_FP.pdf
  8. I understand what you are doing. I'm saying export your 456 pages out of ID with everything as-is except the variable ticket number. Then you pull those individual PDF's in as-is into your blank two page FP template and assigning the front and backs with rules and having the sequence number inserted with a text frame. This seems real easy to me, the most time would be creating the csv file to drive it, but even that wouldn't take very long.
  9. What are you cutting and pasting??? You should have a two page PDF and three FP boxes (Two Graphic, One Text) in your FP template and the two pages should have no art.
  10. Is the sequential number in the same position for each front? If so, you should not worry about the FP text box in InDesign and just output all pages to a PDF and then extract them into the 456 individual PDFs. As for the numbering and backs, I would do as suggested and create your own data to create each ticket into one two page FP template. Using the create resource rule for the fronts and the backs.
  11. Ridiculous, thank you very much!!!!
  12. Is there an easy way to subscript a dollar sign that is part of a field. For example I have: "$25-$500 Big 5 Sporting Goods" or "$34.95/$39.95 FryDaze Phone or Tablet" Was hoping to drop the field in as one and not have to break up the string into multiple fields to assign formatting. This is how I did it for a very small amount of variables previously but the job is getting larger and larger. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  13. Mind if I ask what kind of Ink Jet you use? Never heard of an ink jet only able to use dbf files.
  14. Never tried a dbf file. I always use delimited files out of Mail Manager.
  15. I'm trying to create a template that I can send straight to my Indigo. If I compose to PDF it takes way to long to rip so I was hoping to do it a different way and don't know much about it. Also, my job is a variable two page PDF that the background switches based on the data. I thought I had a rule to assign pages as well but my overflow isn't working correct. Is there an easy way to pull in both pages of the PDF without splitting the all the PDF's into two pages? Thanks for any help.
  16. Can I build my template with a Create Resource Rule and output to a JDF file or do I need to have the rule built as a switch and specify the PDF?
  17. So after many different ideas and attempts, it looks like it isn't possible to get the variable text box on the unused slipsheet to get imposed the same as the imposition file imposes the template itself. Has anyone found a way to get this to work??
  18. I do realize the slipsheet isn't the final imposed size, but I also tried it as 13X19 as well, but it only places the text from the unused slipsheet page in one location. So it seems to me the only way to get it to work this way would be to have my data 8 up as well. If that is the case, I will just go with the template I made with the 62 pages in it.
  19. I uploaded the collected file without the assets.dat, because it was not uploading. I'm assuming because the size although it was only 6MB. Hopefully, you are able to see what I was trying to do without it. ThanksOneup_FP.zip
  20. I tried that, that is what created the incorrect PDF I attached.
  21. I understand the slipsheet using an unused page. What I was trying to do was have the order number on the slipsheet. This works, but only does it with one version and not the eight versions when imposed. So I built a new template with 62 pages in it and I get the result I want, but was thinking there had to e an easier way to accomplish this. I have attached some PDFs.Incorrect.pdf Correct.pdf
  22. I have a job where I will get a file supplied to me of some doctors names. We want to create a pad of 30 and was wondering how I would go about getting say something like a slipsheet with the order number on top of the set of 30 for each version. It will impose to eight up, is there a way to do this easily. I don't really understand the OnRecordStart rules, but I'm guessing it may help for what I want to do. Thanks in advance for any help!!
  23. Works for me if I add a pt number to the bleed box in the impostion tab when composing. Just put in a number for how much bleed you want in the final print file.
  24. What if you put say 18pt in the bleed box on the impostion tab when you compose?

    SlipSheets

Sorry for the old thread bump, but I was wondering if the issue Kim spoke of has been addressed. I have an 8.5 X 11 document being imposed to a saddlestitched 11 X 17 and I added a Unused body page at 11X17 and filled it solid red. When I compose and add the unused page as a slipsheet, it only returns the red fill to 8.5X11 of the 11x17 page. I would like to be able to have the full 11X17 filled with red. Thanks for any input.
