To setup the shipping weights and quantities by hand would have taken hours, but by using a FireFox add-on called iMacros I was able to script most of the form population for the Carrier Shipping. This took a 3 or more hour task and reduced it to mere minutes! A fairly suitable work-around for Shipping Bulk-ops...
