Highlighting background color for specific text

Hi everyone,

 

I need to be able to highlight a sentence or two within in paragraph in yellow similar to the function in Microsoft Word.

 

Normally, I'd just change the background fill color of the text frame however there is an entire paragraph of variable content and only specific words require highlighting.

 

Any thoughts?

I've seen this question posed before and have never given it much thought. The only thing I can think might work would be to create a duplicate font in Fontographer with a colored background the same width as each character, and then call the new font in a tag for the highlighted letters.
