FusionPro® VDP 11 is here! We've been working hard on some exciting enhancements that will make your job easier than ever.

The FusionPro® VDP product suite includes both Mac and Windows releases of FusionPro VDP Creator, as well as the Windows-based FusionPro VDP Producer and FusionPro VDP Server. With the new subscription model for FusionPro 11, FusionPro VDP Creator will now include FusionPro Expression for no extra charge.

New features and improvements include:

  • 64-Bit Mac and Catalina support: FusionPro VDP and FusionPro Expression on the Mac have been rebuilt from the ground up to be fully compatible with the latest Mac technologies, including the upcoming release of macOS 10.15 "Catalina". No more compatibility warnings! We even support Dark Mode! (Also, Zoom in the Text Editor!)

  • Improved Font Handling: No more "Load Fonts" step! FusionPro VDP will automatically pick up new fonts, and recognize changes to the list of installed fonts, on both Windows and Mac, without the user having to take any extra steps to load fonts. Third-party font management tools can now be fully utilized with FusionPro.

  • Reduced PDF Output Size: FusionPro VDP now produces smaller output files, for improved delivery and streamlined processing time.

  • User interface improvements: Most dialogs are now resizable, searching capabilities have been added for rules and resources, a new Preferences dialog allows more control over the user experience, a new look for the FP Imposer tool, and many other enhancements. Also, Zoom in the Mac Text Editor!

  • Updated documentation and tutorials, to better demonstrate the functionality of FusionPro.

  • Capability to change the color of a vector art in a PDF resource or template background.

  • Support for alternate number styles in fonts such as Tabular Lining and Oldstyle numbers.

Update: FusionPro VDP 11.0.8 adds the following new features and improvements:

  • Support for Adobe InDesign 2020: The latest version of Adobe InDesign is supported on both Windows and Mac.

  • Improved support for multiple styles of a font: FusionPro 11.0.2 had limited ability to select fonts with styles other than normal, bold, italic, and bold italic. These have been addressed and all font variations should be selectable in FusionPro 11.0.8.

  • Improvement to select barcode and symbol fonts on Macintosh: In FusionPro 11.0.2 on Mac, some barcode and symbol fonts could not be applied to text and variables in the Text Editor. This has been addressed.

  • Improvements to EPS handling: A new EPS conversion component from Adobe resolves some EPS conversion problems, when using EPS in PDF-based output formats.

  • Additional built-in template rules: New XML template rules allow the designer to apply alternate number styles to a font, change the page number style, and impose a previously composed output file, all without any coding.

  • Improved rule names in XML template rules: For certain XML template rules, the rule name will differentiate it from other rules made from the same XML template. For example, a phone number format rule associated with the field cellphone will be called Phone Number Format: Cellphone to differentiate it from other rules.

Update: FusionPro VDP 11.0.9 adds the following new features and improvements:

  • Support tagged document structure in the PDF output to allow document reading in applications with assistive technologies
  • Support for Data Matrix and PDF417 barcodes on macOS 10.15 Catalina
  • FP-273: FusionPro draws frame border when there is no color set for the border
  • FP-271: Chart legend text was curved when there is curved text on the same page
  • FP-238: FusionPro Composition ignored Y-direction Text Inset on overflow text frames
  • FP-181: On Japanese OS, properly switch from a font containing Japanese characters to a font that does not contain Japanese characters
  • Support for Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version 2020 (in the latest 11.0.9 installers).

Thanks for this release. It is a lot more snappy on my Mac.

Great! Thanks for the feedback!

I can not seem to find info in the manual or in the tutorials about changing the color in pdf-files. Could you please point me in the right direction?

Call either the global FusionPro.Composition.ChangeColorInPDFBackground function, or the ChangeColor function of the Resource object. There are two new Form (XML Template) rules which demonstrate these: "Change Color In PDF Resource Rule" (graphic) and "Change Color in PDF Background Rule" (callback/event).
