Red
I have a Xerox Versant 3100 with EFI XP3100 RIP, and when I send either a composed PDF or PS to the RIP, the speed is very slow, roughly 1/4 - 1/3 the engine print speed. It appears to be limited by the processor on the RIP, there is 100% CPU usage showing in task manager. These are pretty simple layouts with 13x19 sheet size and full color static background, only thing changing is name and address in black. I'm wondering why the background is not being ripped and cashed, and only ripping the variable part. Is there some setting missing when I compose? We have tried everything that seems obvious both on FP and EFI. Thanks in advance.
Dan Korn
My guess (without looking at the job files) is that you have partial transparency in the background, in which case flattening it would likely speed up the RIP time.
