johnprintingpartners.net
I am using FusionPro Desktop 7.0P1d and Expression 3.1.8 on a Mac. I would like to place a transparent background image in Expression template. Then in my FusionPro document, I have a photo and a spot color with my Expression template on top of that. Is this possible? Thanks John
Dan Korn
The transparency in the Expression template won't get carried through, because FusionPro always tells FP Expression to generate JPG files, which don't support transparency. Enhancing the FusionPro to FP Expression integration to generate TIFF files instead is on our list. However, you can define a "texture" (picture-in-picture) personalization in FP Expression to contain the photo, and a partially transparent foreground on top of that, and use that in a FusionPro job, which I think will give you what you want. It's hard to way exactly without seeing the files and an example of what you're trying to accomplish in the output, though.
johnprintingpartners.net
Dan, This answers my question, the final output needs to have the Expression template, then a Kodak Dimensional spot Ink layer to add raised texture ink to the sand. Our work around to compose the files and place the pdf's back into the Indesign with the Kodak Dimensional spot Ink layer and export a final pdf. johnprintingpartners.net
We got this workflow to work by making the Kodak Dimensional spot color layer art in lllustrator, overprint on, no transparency. We placed the spot layer EPS in FusionPro as a variable graphic on top of the Expressions Template. We had to output as PDF, because the VDX format didn't work.
