  1. Ugh, that's unfortunate. Nice job, Adobe! 🙄 Thanks Dan. Is there a known-good earlier version of Acrobat that I might be able to revert to that works, until the fix comes out? MartyrSyx, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately that didn't work for me on this project... I'll try it on a couple others.
  2. Hello, FusionPro Creator 13.1.18 in Acrobat 24.002.20687 on a Monterey M1 iMac I'm seeing some rather nasty graphical glitches in FusionPro text frames depending on the zoom level of the document in Acrobat. When I'm at 100%, everything looks fine. But when I zoom in to anything above about 112%, the text disappears from the text frame and appears elsewhere on the page. I've attached some screenshots that hopefully show the issue... the file 100 pct.pdf shows my test document at 100% zoom. 100 pct.pdf I'm trying to precisely place the blue text over the static gray text behind it; once positioned, the blue text will be replaced with variables, changed to black, and the gray text beneath it removed. (Not to mention it's not rendering in the correct font, but I think that's another issue). But as I zoom in, the blue text goes AWOL and no longer shows in the text frames, as shown in 125 pct.pdf and 150 pct.pdf. 125 pct.pdf 150 pct.pdf It's making it basically impossible to place the text frame exactly where I need it. Is anyone else seeing these issues? Thanks, Drewstre
  3. Apologies for not replying sooner... for this project I ended up changing my logic around until I could finally get it work, just to get it out the door. After it was done and gone, I went back and tried to unfix my logic, but could not get it to replicate the issue. Will follow up if I see it again. Thanks, Drewstre
  4. Hello, FusionPro Creator 13.0.2 on a Monterey Mac / Producer 13.0.2 on Windows Server 2019 I have a data file with about 3,700 records. One field is the name of a realtor, there are eight possible realtors sprinkled throughout the data. There are also variable graphics that are specific to each realtor. For proofing, customer wants one PDF for each possible realtor in the list, so we would need eight PDFs. So I have logic in OnRecordStart that basically builds a list of realtor names as it parses the data; once it finds a realtor that's not in the list, it makes a new PDF with that record's data and adds their name to the list. This gives me the eight proof PDFs I need. This all works great when I compose it in Acrobat on my Mac. But when I compose it on our Producer box, only five of the expected eight PDFs make their way to FusionPro's final output folder. Here's the fun part: when I look in that job's subfolder in the DirectWorking folder, all eight PDFs are in there. They're just not all getting copied to the final output folder. The job's log indicates that three of the PDFs are incorrectly being copied twice. Here's a snippet from the log: Composing record #1, input record 1 Copied file: C:\DirectWorking\1711112884\1711112884\Tony Proto.pdf to C:\Printer_Hot_Folder\Tony Proto.pdf Composing record #2, input record 210 Copied file: C:\DirectWorking\1711112884\1711112884\Harry Sanders.pdf to C:\Printer_Hot_Folder\Harry Sanders.pdf Composing record #3, input record 211 Copied file: C:\DirectWorking\1711112884\1711112884\Harry Sanders.pdf to C:\Printer_Hot_Folder\Harry Sanders.pdf Composing record #4, input record 215 Copied file: C:\DirectWorking\1711112884\1711112884\Bill Franklin.pdf to C:\Printer_Hot_Folder\Bill Franklin.pdf Composing record #5, input record 290 Copied file: C:\DirectWorking\1711112884\1711112884\Bill Franklin.pdf to C:\Printer_Hot_Folder\Bill Franklin.pdf Composing record #6, input record 340 Copied file: C:\DirectWorking\1711112884\1711112884\Andrew Pariser.pdf to C:\Printer_Hot_Folder\Andrew Pariser.pdf Composing record #7, input record 457 Copied file: C:\DirectWorking\1711112884\1711112884\Sally Digiovanni.pdf to C:\Printer_Hot_Folder\Sally Digiovanni.pdf Composing record #8, input record 486 Copied file: C:\DirectWorking\1711112884\1711112884\Sally Digiovanni.pdf to C:\Printer_Hot_Folder\Sally Digiovanni.pdf Job ended 09:08:35 - 1711112915. Total Job Time: 29s In the data file, each of those eight records are unique realtor names, e.g. record #211 is NOT Harry Sanders, it's actually Bill Franklin. Record 215 is not Bill Franklin, it's Andrew Pariser. Etc. As I said, the eight PDFs are being correctly created in the DirectWorking folder. But it's almost like FusionPro gets confused when it comes time to copy them to the final output folder. Very strange. Am I missing something? Thanks, Drewstre
  5. Thanks Dan. I'll ask IT to take another crack at it.
  6. FusionPro Creator 13.0.2, Acrobat Pro 2023.003.20215, MacOS 12.4 FusionPro Producer 13.0.2, Windows Server 2019 Hello, For the last couple of weeks, FusionPro Producer will not copy the final composed PDF from its temporary working folder to the configured final output folder. The PDF composes fine, but the log message says: Failed to copy file: C:\DirectWorking\1691002183\1691077297\Num100new.pdf to C:\Printer_Hot_Folder\Num100new.pdf Error no 5 The Num100new.pdf is just a dummy test file I made; it happens on every job I submit. Even jobs that are on the "Finished Jobs" window that worked fine a few weeks ago, when I tell it to Recompose, they fail to copy. If I remote into the box FusionPro Producer is running on, I can manually copy the file. I have asked our IT department to look into it, they have exhausted their options and suggested I contact FusionPro support. I thought I would check here first, to see if anyone might know what "Error no 5" might be. Thanks
  7. Thanks guys, I appreciate you both for taking the time to reply to my inquiry. We have several recurring jobs that we do every week or every month. We use Prinergy to create and organize all of our job folders, and all of the assets for all of our jobs are contained within the individual job folders that Prinergy creates. When one of these recurring jobs comes around, we change the name of the job in Prinergy from the previous job number to the new job number, which changes the name of the job folder containing all of the assets. This is where the relative paths would come in very handy. Since FusionPro seems to have pretty robust (and useful) support for relative paths, I just assumed they could be used in the Resource Editor, and thought I didn't have my syntax right. That's the plan eventually, to migrate as many jobs as possible to Producer/Server, but we're not there yet... it will require a bit of a shift in workflow to have all of our resources in a location accessible by the boxes running Producer/Server. Thanks again for your help gentlemen.
  8. Hello, FusionPro Creator 13.0.2 on an M1 Mac running Monterey 12.4, and Windows servers running FusionPro Producer and Server. I'm having trouble getting relative paths to work in the Resource Editor. My template PDF is in a folder called "working". Also in the working folder is a folder called "Links", and in the Links folder is a file called "Signature.pdf". When I set up a new graphic resource in the Resource Editor, I manually navigate to the Signature.pdf file, hit OK, and it shows the full path. Great. However, when I replace everything up to and including the working folder with a dot so it looks like this: ./Links/Signature.pdf and hit OK, it pops an error window that the "File does not exist." I have tried all kinds of variations of one dot, two dots, colons, slashes... I can't seem to get it to work. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. SigPath.pdf DoesNotExist.pdf
  9. Thanks! I'll give those a try. I appreciate the timely response.
  10. Hello, FusionPro Creator 13.0.2 on an M1 Mac running Monterey 12.4, and Windows servers running FusionPro Producer and Server. Is there a way to make what InDesign calls "Paragraph rules", horizontal lines above and/or below a paragraph? It's probably something obvious I'm just missing, but I have looked through the forums and Tags Reference Guide, to no avail. Ideally they would be as configurable as InDesign, such as offset, line weight, width, etc. Thanks in advance.
  11. I just found out that we also have FusionPro Server as well as Creator and Producer. Is this something that can be done in FP Server? Should I repost in the FP Server forum? (However I did figure out how to get it to abort the Composition when the artwork isn't found, using the ReportError() function.) Thanks for any and all suggestions.
  12. Ya, I need to use the same files for proofing and production.
  13. I don't know if the OP ever resolved this issue, but I was running into the same thing. After much forum searching, I found the problem was with some metadata buried within the PDF. We solved it by opening the base PDF in Acrobat, do a Save As Other... Optimized. In the following various window panes, turn off everything except Discard User Data -> Discard all object data. Voila. Good luck.
  14. Thanks Douglas, but unfortunately no. The data also contains mailing info, and is presorted by our mail room before it gets to us. I probably should've mentioned that instead of saying it's random. The end result is still (frustratingly) the same. 😑
  15. Hello, FusionPro Creator 13.0.2 on an M1 Mac running Monterey 12.4, and a Windows server running FusionPro Producer. Apologies for the following wall of text... We regularly print a variable data job for a customer. The data file has tens of thousands of records. Each record has multiple fields including State, Age, and Version. The order of records is completely random. - For proofing purposes, the customer wants a PDF for each State containing records for each unique Age and Version combination. So I would need, for example, a PDF called "NewYork_VersionA.pdf" that contains one each of the records for Age 1 year Version A, Age 2 year Version A, and so on. Currently, I am setting an empty global variable in Global with var allAgeVersion=[]. Then in OnRecordStart, I essentially: Set the record to FusionPro.Composition.composeThisRecord = false Create a variable called thisRecordAgeVer consisting of fields State+Age+Version Check to see if allAgeVersion contains thisRecordAgeVer. If it does not, then FusionPro.Composition.composeThisRecord = true, FusionPro.Composition.OpenNewOutputFile(thisRecordAgeVer), and allAgeVersion = allAgeVersion.concat(thisRecordAgeVer); (I can't really post the exact code, it contains a lot more than just that including some sensitive info, and it would take me longer to cleanse the code than just summarize it) This results in a single PDF for each unique combination, for example NewYorkAge1VersionA.pdf, NewYorkAge1VersionB.pdf, NewYorkAge2VersionA.pdf, and so on. When it's done, I have a folder full of hundreds of PDFs, and I wrote an external program that then parses the filename of each PDF, and combines the PDFs from each State. This works, but seems cumbersome, and I couldn't figure out a way for FusionPro to generate a single PDF of all unique records per State, as they are in random order and discontiguous in the original data set. I hope I explained that correctly; is there a better way? I would dearly love to avoid the second pass that parses and combines the PDFs. - It's important that we use the same data file and production file for both proofing and production. So in Global, I set var isProof=true and in OnRecordStart, I wrap the whole thing in if(isProof) {. Then when the proofs are approved, I go into Global and set var isProof=false so it's composing all records, turn on imposition in Compose, and away we go. This works, but I would prefer some sort of interactive prompt that asks the user if we're proofing or in production that would essentially toggle the isProof variable and enable Imposition automatically. Don't think this is possible in FusionPro, but I thought I'd ask. - This job also pulls in graphics from a folder based on a field, for example the field FrontFile has "NewYorkVerA.pdf", so it pulls that PDF from a folder and puts it in a graphic frame. The base graphics change occasionally, and of course sometimes there's a typo in the field. FusionPro apparently doesn't log an error if there's a missing graphic, is there a way to make it do that? I've seen in the forums about the CreateResource call, but this job has a dozen or so parts, each with tens of thousands of records, and I'm worried about the overhead of a CreateResource call occurring two or more times (front, back, sometimes more) for every single record. I would love to have a way for it to flat out abort the composition if there's a missing graphic, and log it. I have a couple more questions about this job, but they're more generalized, so I'll make separate posts about those. Thanks so much in advance for any and all comments or suggestions, please let me know if I haven't fully explained my questions.
