[Composing - Show Rule instead of data]

I've seen this happen if you call a Field within a function in JavaScript Globals. It would preview fine but the output would show the rule name just as you described. If you set the global variables for those fields in OnRecordStart then it outputs fine.

I had a similar job come up and this got me thinking about using the Arbitrary Chunking method. I ended up setting it up as an external data file so the info could be parsed into arrays OnJobStart.

 

I'm not sure how useful this will be to you not being on FP8, but you might be able to adapt some of it. Anyways, attached is an example.

You might look at using the built in sequential numbering rule instead of the list of numbers. If you convert the rule to JavaScript you can do quite a bit of customization. There's a section in the User Guide (page 69 in ver 7, page 71 in ver 8) on how to do this, you don't even need a data file.

Please see attached. It's not a big deal, I just didn't notice it at first so I didn't think I got the JavaScript right. I do see that 6 point border being an issue though as positioning of the text will be off when that's gone.

I'm using Desktop but it will be composed on MarcomCentral. I guess I was under the impression that the frame itself would move in the preview. I see now that the contents do move but the frame doesn't, I just had to make the frame bigger to see it.

In FusionPro Producer (formerly FP Direct or FP Server), the ability to move a frame’s position and size can be controlled in JavaScript using the OnRecordStart callback rule.

 

Can I get a pointer to where I find the documentation for this? It appears that the language reference guide that installs with FP8 hasn't been updated to include this (and still says Copyright 2011). FindTextFrame("name").x = val; is apparently not the way to do it.
