  1. I have a fillable pdf that has personalization on it. Does the fillable part stay when added to MarcomCentral?

    Currently only using the personalized fillable pdf locally and manually creating the output file but want to add it to our web-to-print system.

    FusionPro 12.2.2 on a Mac.

    Thanks

  2. Hi there,

    We are working with a letter that has multiple body text resources. Some of the body text resources are shorter that the others. When there is a shorter body text resource, I need the signature to move up with the text.

    Is this even possible???

    I see that the box that has the text doesn't change in size in accordance with the content of the text. I think that is where my problems begins.

    We are using a MAC with FusionPro 9 something...

    Thanks

    Chris

  3. I think I have narrowed it down to the job itself. I have opened a completely different job and everything composed fine with an FPI file.

    The error was only happening when I applied an fpi file before composing. I am going back to the original Indesign job too see if it is coming from my bleed settings.

    Thank you for the help.

  4. Hi there,

    Last Friday I started having problems with composing a job when I select any FPI file. When I compose it a looks like it is working and then it crashes. I have attached a screen shot of the FusionPro crash. If I don't use an FPI file then it composes without crashing.

    When I was looking around I saw something called FusionPro Direct Monitor. When I opened it it gave me error messages. I am attaching screen shots of those errors. I'm not sure of that is related to my problem.

    I have reinstalled FusionPro.

    Earlier last week everything was working fine. I don't know of anything that had changed.

    I had created a completely new file and still the error keeps coming up.

    We are using MAC's and we are up to date on FusionPro software. We are using Indesign.

    I will take any help I can get. If there is anything else I can provide please let me know.

    Thanks

    Chris

  6. Here is the rule I am trying to get to work.

    var firstNameInitial = Field("FirstName");

    var middleNameInitial = Field("MiddleInitial");

    if (Field("FirstName").length == 1 && Field("FirstName") != ".")

    {

    firstNameInitial = Field("FirstName")+".";

    }

    if (Field("MiddleInitial").length == 1 && Field("MiddleInitial") != ".")

    {

    middleNameInitial = Field("MiddleInitial")+".";

    }

    var s = "";

    if (Field("Middle") == "Yes")

    {

    if (Field("ChooseFirstName") == "First Name")

    {

    s = AppendText(s, "", firstNameInitial);

    s = AppendText(s, " ", middleNameInitial);

    s = AppendText(s, " ", Field("LastName"));

    s = AppendText(s, ", ", Field("Suffix"));

    s = AppendText(s, ", ", Field("Designation"));

    }

    else if (Field("ChooseFirstName") == "Nickname")

    {

    s = AppendText(s, "", Field("NickName"));

    s = AppendText(s, " ", Field("LastName"));

    s = AppendText(s, ", ", Field("Suffix"));

    s = AppendText(s, ", ", Field("Designation"));

    }

    }

    else if (Field("Middle") == "No")

    {

    if (Field("ChooseFirstName") == "First Name")

    {

    s = AppendText(s, "", firstNameInitial);

    s = AppendText(s, " ", Field("LastName"));

    s = AppendText(s, ", ", Field("Suffix"));

    s = AppendText(s, ", ", Field("Designation"));

    }

    else

    {

    s = AppendText(s, "", Field("NickName"));

    s = AppendText(s, " ", Field("LastName"));

    s = AppendText(s, ", ", Field("Suffix"));

    s = AppendText(s, ", ", Field("Designation"));

    }

    }

    return s;

  7. Here is a pdf of the rule we have.

    The names I used for an example are fake. We have Agents that will be ordering items from our web-to-print system and can choose what combination of their names they want. Some of the agents have an initial for their first name and some have a middle initial only. When they place their order this rule is supposed to add the period when there is that initial.

    This rule as is returns nothing, no matter what is selected by the person ordering. I think the problem is in line 19, 20 & 40, but I don't know what it needs to be to work.

    Hope this makes sense.

  8. Hi there,

    We are needing to add a period if a first name or middle name is an initial only.

    For example: W Kenny Massey should be W. Kenny Massey

    Or Christine M Mostaert should be Christine M. Mostaert

    We have a rule that I think has a few things missing on line 19, 20, and 40. I am attaching a screen shot of the rule. I hope it is readable.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  9. Here is the job I'm working on. The 8 pages I was talking about turns into 2 four page sigs which ends up being a stitched booklet.

    Body 1 and Body 2 (1 sheet printed 2 sides) is on stock A and Body 3 and Body 4 (1 sheet printed 2 sides with two variable boxes with the same number printing) is printing on stock B.

    I have used the page usage to assign the specific information needed for each sig.

    Maybe I'm thinking this is harder that it actually is.

  10. Hi there.

    I was reading this thread and it has helped me to a certain point. I got the body pages set up with the correct PPD I'm using.

    I am working on a MAC with an Indesign File that has only 2 variables in it.

    The job has 8 pages that will be made into a booklet.

    The first 11 x 18 sig has no variables in it but is 2 sided. The 2 second two sided sig has two variable boxes on it which is on a different paper than the first.

    The data I am using is just a list of numbers only, nothing in it to tell the template to pull different stocks for each sig.

    Is there some rule that can be used to say that body 1 and 2 go on this paper and body 3 and 4 to go on a different paper? Or, do I need to have the data redone to tell it to do it??

    Any guidance would be helpful.

    Chris

  11. We are using FusionPro on a MAC. We start with an Indesign file that has variable information on it. I have everything set up and running great.

    My question is how do I change the static background if there is say a logo change without having to start all over setting up the variables and the rules??

    I am going through the user guide again to see if I've missed it in there.

    Thanks

    Chris

  12. I think I may have this figured out. My path was not correct.

    I have it in there both ways. Advanced Tab and in a separate rule.

    Here is my rule with the path. Just want an opinion if this looks correct or if there are any potential problems.

    AgentPhoto = CreateResource("/Volumes/MACData/Printing/XServe Files/Volume_1/Untitled4/2000-9999 Forms/3008-C Personalized Checking Bank Brochures/" + Field("AgentPhoto"), "graphic", true);

    if (AgentPhoto.exists)

    return AgentPhoto;

    else return NullResource();

    Thanks for all you do.

  13. I have a template that uses a rule to insert a photo and it works great. My problem starts when I create a new template that needs to use the same photos as the other one. Do I put the new template in the same folder as the first one or is there a way to have a folder of photos only and have a rule look for the folder? If that's the case how does that work? How does the rule find the folder??

    Here is the rule I have now.

    AgentPhoto = CreateResource(Field("AgentPhoto"), "graphic", true);

    if (AgentPhoto.exists)

    return AgentPhoto;

    else return NullResource();

    return CreateResource(Field("AgentPhoto"));

  14. Hi there,

    We are still having this issue with the photos of the agent not showing up on the template. We thought we had a rule that would work but it won't. Here is the rule we were given to use - see if anyone can tell me what we doing wrong.

    agentPhoto = CreateResource(Field("AgentPhoto"), "graphic" , true);

    If (agentPhoto.exists)

    return agentPhoto;

    else return Resource("photo_not_found.pdf");

    I'm not sure what the phot not found .pdf is.

    When we used this rule we keep getting an error message something about the resource in the last line.

    Please help.

    Chris

  15. Hi there,

    We are very new to FusionPro and Indesign. We have a 2 sided postcard that has 3 variable text boxes. We have a revision to make to the static background which is being done in InDesign. How do we do this without having to rework the variable boxes too. It seems that this should be an easy task to replace that image and we are just missing it.

    Thanks

    CMostaert

  16. We do have that as a graphic. That was my first thought when we started this form, but we have it right.

    Let me ask you this. Within the template, can we change the sample data it is looking at?

    Thank you so much. This is helping me understand some things.
