CFG File Reference

Recommended Posts

There isn't any complete reference of every possible CFG file setting; some settings are internal to our own systems such as MarcomCentral. However, you can use the configure.exe utility to generate a CFG file with any settings that can be applied in FP Desktop, or simply export a CFG file from FP Desktop, and use that as a basis for whatever you need to do. If you have any questions about what settings you need to do something specific, feel free to ask here or contact Support.

Dan, please ask the FP Server product manager to do your customers a favor and document the .CFG parameters. Given the cost of the software and importance of the settings for its use, the time spent creating such a document would be a great complement to your otherwise excellent customer support.

Thank you

Okay, I have entered case FP-11448 about this issue. It will be escalated to product management.

Thanks Dan,

A closer look at the config utility was helpful. Still, I see parameters in the .CFG that are not available via the GUI.

Need to watermark and, sometimes reduce the size of proofs, but not the print-ready PDF.

It seems that a watermark added by Acrobat cannot be automatically detected by Acrobat after the file is rendered by FP Server. Possibly due to a flattening issue. Unsure if can be resolved via the "PDFLevel=" parameter in the .CFG file. Still looking into options...

Found these watermark threads:

Is there a way to add a watermark that can be automatically removed before the print-ready file is introduced into a workflow? (or) Automatically detected and removed within a workflow?

Need to reduce the size of proofs for versioned/variable large-format posters. Looking into options...

Found this thread:

And noticed the "JPEG_Output_Scaling=" parameter. Are there other parameters that control scaling?

Thanks,

Dave Miller
