Special Characters and Accent Marks Not Maintained

Recommended Posts

I'm working on a template and data file which contains several names with accent marks, tildas, etc. The list is tab delimited direct from my mailing software however when the data file is imported into the template, I'm losing all of these special characters.

I've tried saving the file a few different ways and with different encoding (UTF-8 and UTF-16) and nothing seems to correct the issue.

Anyone else run into this or have a workaround?

It's very hard to say exactly what the problem might be without seeing the job files. Can you at least say whether there are any messages in your log (.msg) file? You might need to uncheck the "Limit processing to Mac Roman" box on the Advanced tab of the Composition Settings dialog. And make sure you are using a font which supports Unicode.
