Re: How to Properly Link a .txt file and define Fields

That's where I come in.. I can help you with taking the poorly formatted data, pour it in to a solution and export out the data in the form that you need it. No more effort than that required. I've...

Re: How to Properly Link a .txt file and define Fields

A simple Filemaker Database/Script works great. I built a solution that was used to import thousands of records each day.. Especially if your data has the same structure. Could provide a standalone...

Re: Error in infinate stack???

I did get it to download, but, no matter what I did, it always breaks at 125.. I haven't tried making an actual data file and forgetting the rule yet but that would be my next avenue of attack...

Re: Variable records on same layout.

If your data is not a couple of million records, I would loop through the database and add a field that pulls in a graphic resource on every 17th record.. Place a "null" graphic in the balance and...

Re: Limit to a field length

Interesting...
I just made a quick 4000 word text file and placed it and it read as 4 records.. So I may be guessing here, but it appears to be 1000?

Re: HP Indigo and JLYT files

Hotfolders are you friend here. Setup hotfolders for the press characteristics, (stock, color profiles, etc.) and plot you JLYT's to that folder.. Works very well..

Re: Spot colors convert to process in JLT

The operative word here is Quark.. It is terrible with anything that is NOT CMYK or B&W.. If you have InDesign, do a small test with color blocks and see that it works. I've beat my head against the...

Re: Layers - Variable image always prints on top

Transparency will not carry forward from InDesign as variable data. If you are placing full strength images in ID (as a variable to swap images) and adding a transparent box over them, it will not...

Re: which PDF version export?

The last ones you used to export any PDF.. The way I use is to create a PDF preset the way I want the PDF exported. Select it and START to export a plain, from InDesign, PDF. You don't have to wait...

Re: What's the csv file limitation

Ran into this myself.. If I remember, I don't think it was necessarily a .csv issue, but, and excel problem. Moved data into filemaker and exported.. Also, try tab delimited export..

If I can...

I'd be most interested in the result also. It is a VERY frequent occurrence to have to impose a job that consists of this scenario. Even where you are simply running two up of a variable count...

Sorry to but in here, but, isn't there an extra "{" at the end of line 2 that might cause this error?

But, back to the original issue - has it been in excel? I was going to send back a small chunk that has not touched Excel to see if it makes a difference for you..

Re: Double quotes in the data

Any chance the data is originating from Excel (or has been in it?).. Excel whacks a whole lot of things..

If the data is not sensitive, email it to me and I'll take a look..

Re: How to print different quantities as determined by database?

With Fusion Pro 6 it is really easy.. With earlier versions, it's a bit dicey but works.. If you could elaborate which version you have, the answer will be forthcoming..

In 6, there is a function...
