DNS Setup Clarification

Hi - we've just become printable.com customers and are working on setting up our first test campaign.

Just to clarify the DNS setup, we need to -
Is this correct?

Thanks!!

also, i don't believe our hosting allows for wildcard cname records.

if this is the case, then personalization in FRONT of the domain is not possible, correct?

thanks!

Re: DNS Setup Clarification

Hello,

For starters, have you reviewed the FusionPro Links DNS Configuration Guide document? This document discusses DNS setup for FusionPro Links campaigns for campaigns with personalization at the front/end and includes a number of examples.

You can find this document in the FusionPro Links help system. After you login to Links, visit the "Help" link in the upper-right. Then navigate in that help window to Campaigns -> Campaign Screen -> Campaign Section. About 1/3 the way down that screen will show you a link to the DNS Configuration guide document.

That being said, here's answers to your questions:

1) The steps you list for CNAME creation are indeed what you would do for campaigns with personalization at the end of the Personalized URL.

2) If your DNS administration tool does not allow wildcard CNAME records, see if you can make a wildcard A record. Since it's an A record, you will need to point it to the FP Links IP address: 64.154.89.60

Re: DNS Setup Clarification

thanks. yes, i did read the documentation - just wanted to clarify.

in my hosting control panel, domain DNS settings and domain forwarding destination are separate settings - i did not notice anything in the docs that specifically mentioned domain forwarding destination and DNS settings as separate settings.

thanks!
