elixir
Hello - Now that I have the postnet barcode down solid, the IMB barcode is required. Questions - which font to use & size, and is the input string alpha or numeric? Thanks!

elixir
Hmm, well I'm still missing something. Here is the issue - in the "preview record selector" I can see the barcode string "TTFAD...." however nothing appears on the barcode line in the PDF, although the rest of the record lines do appear.. I've selected the IDAutomation 4 state font for that line. I did try changing the font to Arial, and the characters "TTFAD..." did appear in the PDF when previewed. What am I missing here? Thanks! dleahy
Sounds to be like the font may not be embedding properly. Check your fonts.err file here for any issues with the barcode fonts: /Library/Preferences/PTI/FusionPro/fonts.err
esmith
We use the font "USPSIMBStandard" and apply it to the variable "as is" at 16 pt (not via a rule). The font can be found on the USPS website.
Dan Korn
I did try changing the font to Arial, and the characters "TTFAD..." did appear in the PDF when previewed. If you have issues with Preview, ALWAYS do a regular, non-preview composition and look in the log file. It will probably tell you what went wrong. elixir
Still can't get the IDAutomation4State font to work. However was able to install the USPS Std & Compact IMB's on this machine, and after loading through FusionPro 4X those eventually worked. Could not locate a "font.err" file, nor did I find any mention (recognizable to me) of things gone awry in the log file, when trying the IDAutomation font again. However - the USPS fonts DO work! Why the IDAutomation one does not - I dunno. Thanks to all for your suggestions and assistance.
Dan Korn
Still can't get the IDAutomation4State font to work. The IDAutomation4State font contains glyphs only for the digits 0, 1, 2, and 3. If you want to use raw data encoded with the letters F, A, T, and D, then you need to convert those letters to the digits, as demonstrated in these threads, all of which are fairly easy to find by searching this forum for "intelligent mail barcode": http://forums.pti.com/showthread.php?t=747 http://forums.pti.com/showthread.php?t=433 http://forums.pti.com/showthread.php?t=650 Could not locate a "font.err" file, nor did I find any mention (recognizable to me) of things gone awry in the log file, when trying the IDAutomation font again. The location of fonts.err varies based on the versions of FusionPro and your operating system. On Windows XP, with FusionPro 8.0, the fonts.err file should be at "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\PTI\FusionPro\". However, in this case, the font itself is fine, but the encoding of the characters doesn't match up, as explained above.
elixir
Ah, that answers my original question then, and indicates why the IDAutomation font doesn't work with alpha characters. I did search the forums initially for this info, but silly me I searched for the acronym "IMB" which returned: "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." Thanks for your help - most appreciated!

Please try some different terms." Sorry about that. Unfortunately, there's a "feature" of vBulletin forums where words with fewer than four letters are not indexed for searches. This is something beyond our (PTI's) control as clients of vBulletin. You can use Google to search the forum by including "site:forums.pti.com" in the search, like so: http://google.com/search?q=site:forums.pti.com+imb Although, admittedly that does turn up a lot of hits, not all of which say how to convert the encoding of the text barcode data for use with the IDAutomation4State font instead of the USPSIMBStandard font.
