  1. Has anyone had an issue with the variable text boxes shifting when you make a PPML and if so, did you find out what is causing it? I'm addressing some letters for mailing and I composed a pdf prior to making the PPML and it was perfect. I printed it on our Ricoh and the type had shifted about 1/4" to the right and up. I've been having some issues with the Arial fonts but this is the first time I've noticed an issue with a PPML doing something different than the pdf.
  2. Hmmmm....Noticed I'm also getting a ? mark in a box where the apostrophe should be when I send over a PPML file. The pdf generated from FusionPro is fine. We tried to install the Calibri (ttf) font to the Fiery RIP but all it did was print out a bunch of pages of garbage on our Ricoh Pro C901 (for some unknown reason). Only thing I can figure to do is to convert the pdf to outlines. Any one have any new info on this? UPDATE: Found out there is an issue with Calibri and Windows 7. My Calibri version is Version 2 so I looked up newer versions from Microsoft and they are Version 5.62 for Windows 7 and 5.72 for Windows 10. Installed the 5.62 Version on my Mac and the font loaded fine in FusionPro but SOME (not all) of my variable text boxes come up blank (gray box) when I try to put in the fields. Tried to download the 5.62 Version of Calibri to the Windows 7 computer and it gagged on it. No luck with either. Guess I'll have to stick with Version2 and convert to outlines.
  3. Thanks Scott. I tried making a rule but maybe I didn't do it correctly. On another note, I tried InDesign Data Merge and that worked great! Zero problems and really fast. With the amount of time we have to produce jobs for customers, it's great that we can fall back on other options if FP VDP won't work. Appreciate the help!
  4. Well...it was a pain in the butt and took 2 days but went back to HP Smartstream on my old computer and had no problems. It may be simple, but it's RELIABLE.
  5. Hi All. I have a customer that just sent in a pdf file and they want variable data numbering done on coupons. Unfortunately, they extended the font by 125% and set the font tracking at -40. I normally place the pdf in InDesign and then export from there. I haven't had any luck with FusionPro keeping those attributes let alone loading the font I need. Can someone tell me if there is a way that I can use a manually extended/condensed font or if perhaps this works in a newer version? I'm using 9.2.31....Thank you!
  6. Thanks Dan. We were able to save the Excel file out as a .csv and then open in Notepad and save as a text file (UTF-8). That seemed to resolve the problem. Sometimes you have to play around with it and see what works. Appreciate the help!
  7. I don't know if anyone can help but if so, please let me know. I am trying to do addressing on letters for a customer and I have to use Calibri. Everything was fine until I got to addressing international letters and some of the special characters are defaulting to something else. I can manually go into the .csv file and change them and it works, but I've got over 1000 letters to do. I'm told that it's a Mac issue and the Calibri coding for those characters and that it should work on the PC but I don't have that capability. Does anyone know a workaround or a Calibri version that works? Thank You!
  8. Okay….now I'm totally confused. I started over from scratch and fixed a font issue elsewhere (Arial) and now it worked without an error. Thanks for everyone's help!
  9. Okay hopefully my signature comes through this time…..Perfect.
  10. Thanks Ste. Hopefully I can collect it today and post it later. Appreciate the help!
  11. Actually, that's what I'm using. This is the error message I'm getting: "warning: The tracking number is not the correct length of 20 characters in record number 1" etc.. My settings are currently 16pt type and 0% tracking and visually it looks fine. Even if I change it to 5 or 10% I get that error (but the bar code looks bad). Anyways, the customer decided that it was too much for him to fill in the OEL info and decided to print on the press rather than digitally with the addressing but I would like to know how to fix the error for next time. I don't want to have to use mail houses if we can save money in house. I would like to know if a PTI Tech Support person is monitoring this, why I watched a webinar about using the IDAutomation4State font if it doesn't work….or why it doesn't work.
  12. Thanks for the info! I looked at the CSV file this morning and they did have a field for it, but it was left blank. So that answers that question. I do seem to be having problems with the tracking on the IMB barcode. I'm using the USPS Standard NonAFP font because I can't get the IDAutomation4State font to work and I'm choosing 16pt but I'm getting a tracking error when composing. It appears to look okay, so should I ignore the tracking issue?
  13. Please excuse the fact that this is my first mailing and my question may very well be a simple question, making me look stupid but here goes…I've done a number of mailings (addressing) but this is the first time that we are going in-house and I have to do the Intelligent Mail Barcode myself which I feel comfortable doing. The customer supplied me with a sample that he had done previously and he has also supplied me a "cleaned" mailing list. Here's the question….Above the barcode is a OEL line that has several asterisks and then 3-DIGIT 344. I know the 3-digits are the first 3 numbers of the zip code, but are those numbers generated automatically or are they in a separate field in the CSV file? I looked at the CSV file, but I have to look at it in text format since I don't have Excel and I couldn't see it in that mess. Any help on doing OEL lines would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
