  1. I have figured out a way to add a custom color bar or graphic to a template that will be imposed using FPImposer. I have attached the .zip file. This template also has a slug line that will place in the last 30 characters of the data file path along with what # stack and what # sheet within the stack. I have also included the RuleTemplates.English.js file with the 3 rules so they will be selectable when a new rule is created. If you wish to use this file you will need to replace your RuleTemplates.English.js or edit yours with the code at the end of mine. Please follow these steps. 1. When exporting your PDF from Quark or InDesign set the bleed to what you will actually need, nothing extra. 2. When creating your Imposition enlarge the Finished Size Bleed by .25". So if your job is to have .125" bleed make the Imposition bleed .375" 3. Set your Stack amount and remember this, you will use this number later. 4. When setting the spacing for the Vert and Horz subtract the extra .25" Bleed that you used in the Finished Size Bleed. So for .125" bleed the spacing would be -.5", it is -.5" because you need to remove the bleed from both sides of the touching items. 5. Input the Graphic resource file "HP3050_8.5horz.eps" which is included in the .zip file. 6. Create a new Graphic Rule (if you have used the "RuleTemplates.English.js" you will see this "SlugColorBar" in the drop down selection if not you will need to copy and paste from this sample template). 7. When editing this rule you will need to put in some information about the job. a. Enter how many records there will be per printed sheet b. Enter how many total records there will be in the job c. Enter how many sheets there will be in each stack d. Enter which Imposition position you want this element to appear 8. Create a variable graphic box just short of the length of your file, and for the height .26" plus your jobs bleed. If the bleed is .125" this box will be .376" 9. Assign the "SlugColorBar" rule to this box and place it at the top of the file so the bottom of the box just touches the top of the template. 10. If you have multiple pages just copy and paste this variable graphic box to each page you want the color bar to show. 11. Create a new Text Rule (if you have used the "RuleTemplates.English.js" you will see this "SlugLineFront" in the drop down selection if not you will need to copy and paste from this sample template). 12. When editing this rule you will need to put in some information about the job. a. Enter how many records there will be per printed sheet b. Enter how many total records there will be in the job c. Enter how many sheets there will be in each stack d. Enter which Imposition position you want this element to appear 13. Create a variable text box just short of the length of your file and for the height .26" plus your jobs bleed. If the bleed is .125" this box will be .376" 14. Assign the "SlugLineFront" rule to this box and place it at the top of the file so the bottom of the box just touches the top of the template. 15. If you have a back page use the "SlugLineBack" and repeat the "SlugLineFront" instructions. Depending on your layout and where you would like these elements to appear (top, side or bottom) you will need to create your variable boxes in different places on your template. I have used this many times with 100% success but with anything use at your own risk. The part I have had the most problem with is entering data into the rules. Triple check your entries, if they are incorrect you can have these elements print in areas that you would not want. This is my first time every posting anything like this. I hope it will help out. It may seem a little confusing and first but after you go through it once or twice it becomes real simple. The code may seem a little clunky so if someone has a suggestion on cleaning it up (Dan) I would welcome it. Any comments are also welcome. Tom ImpoTest.zip
  2. We used that feature all the time with no issues. I have a friend that was working on a brand new NexPress that had similar problems and it turned out to be a problem with the press. I would contact Kodak because you should have no problems imposing on a NexPress.
  3. That is strange. Is the job ripped as singles? Running it Work and Turn?
  4. Why not use the Imposition on the front end of the NexPress? It has awesome Imposition abilities.
  5. I know the old forum talked about variable maps but I can't find my old e-mails and I can't find any mention on it on the new forums. So, has anyone done variable maps? If so how did you go about doing them? Thanks in advance!!
