3 of 9 barcode - hyphens

I am creating a 3 of 9 barcode using the supplied FP rule. My data has hyphens 0000-0000-0000. When I create the barcode the scanner reads the hyphens as /m (0000/m0000/m0000). Is there a way to have the hyphens created as actual hyphens for the barcode scanner.

Is it possible that your data contains em dashes instead of en dashes? Could you test changing the dashes from one format to the other or try replacing all your dashes with "–" in a rule and returning the contents as tagged text? Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to test my own results first as I don't have a scanner nearby.

Thanks for the quick reply. The customer decided they don't want any dashes at all, but I will try your suggestions to see what I get. Our netjet that we do the mail on was able to produce a barcode which scanned reading the hyphens using the same data file. If I figure it out, I will post it. Thanks.
